QBE Rugby Pro

Rugby Pro Winners, Essington Rugby Club

Gloucester’s Rory Lawson with 2010 Rugby Pro winner
Essington RFC

The QBE Rugby Pro competition, is giving thirteen grassroots rugby clubs the chance to win a specialist training session with Premiership Rugby players and coaches, plus £1,000 worth of kit. Prizes will be awarded to innovative, forward thinking English clubs who demonstrate why they should be awarded a two hour session with Premiership Rugby players. The training sessions will be specially designed by Premiership Rugby coaches to assist in the development of winning clubs.

Last season, Launceston under 12’s won a specialist training session with Premiership Rugby club Exeter Chiefs thanks to QBE Rugby Pro, a national competition that gives grassroots clubs the opportunity to train with Premiership Rugby stars. This season, QBE, the business insurance specialist, is again giving amateur clubs the opportunity to win this fantastic prize along with £1,000 worth
of kit.

The Launceston youngsters benefited from a fantastic training session with Exeter Chiefs players Chris Bentley, Matt Jess and Haydn Thomas where they focussed
on passing, tackling and scrummaging in particular. They also won £1,000 worth
of kit to help them throughout the season. Launceston under 12’s have gone
from strength to strength this season with an impressive seven victories from
ten matches.

Launceston coach, Mark Brewerton stated: “The squad has a real mix of players in terms of their size, shape, ability and playing experience, but winning the QBE Rugby Pro competition last season really helped the team develop. It also gave the boys an unforgettable training experience with the Exeter Chiefs players and was a night to remember for the club.”

Entry to the QBE Rugby Pro competition 2012 has now closed. Winners will be announced at the end of January.
