Winners Announced for the 2012 RFU Presidents XV Awards

2012 winners of the RFU President’s XV Awards15 rugby clubs across the country have been named as the 2012 winners of the RFU President’s XV Awards, supported by QBE. The winning club in each of the 15 categories will receive £500, with two Runners Up projects in each category receiving £100 for their club.

HMP The Mount Rugby Football Club has won the RFU President's XV Award for its efforts to improve communication and trust among prisoners and officers.

Supported by business insurance specialist QBE, the prize included a cheque for £500 and a trophy.

There were 274 entries for the competition across 15 categories, with judges including QBE's Sally Rockenbach, RFU president Willie Wildash and Rugby Football Union for Women President Gill Burns.

HMP the Mount PE Officer and rugby coach Helen Harding said the club was ecstatic about receiving the award, adding the recognition is fantastic and that all members are immensely proud.

QBE general manager Elliot Miller said initiatives such as these are vital for recognising clubs that strengthen grassroots level competition.

HMP The Mount introduced rugby and coaching to prisoners, some of whom had not played before.
